Head of Tajikistan's Ministry of Industry proposes creating joint industrial zones with Russia

Tajikistan's Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir has proposed the creation of joint industrial zones with Russia during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, who also Russian Minister of Industry and Trade. The proposal aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore opportunities in key sectors. The Tajik ministry's press service confirmed the discussions held during the Innoprom-2023 exhibition in Yekaterinburg.

 

The Tajik minister highlighted his country's efforts to attract foreign investors, aiming to double industrial production within the next five years. Kabir emphasized that Russian participation in priority projects in mining, textiles and food industries, as well as the establishment of joint industrial zones, would greatly contribute to this goal.

 

During his visit to Yekaterinburg, Kabir also engaged with the management of the Russian Copper Company to discuss cooperation in non-ferrous metallurgy. He met with Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Bocharov and the management of BTK Group to explore opportunities for a textile complex in Kulyab.

 

Earlier discussions between Russian and Tajik officials had indicated the potential for increased Russian investments in Tajikistan. The collaboration could extend to the development of industrial enterprises, fostering closer ties within the production chains of Russian factories and throughout the Eurasian Economic Union.
