The member-countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) should intensify efforts for provision of food security of the union member-states., Akylbek Zhaparov, the head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers, said during the session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Nur-Sultan on Friday.

"We need to start implementing projects in the agro-industrial sphere in order to achieve food security of the Union participants," he said. According to him, it is necessary to move to the national currency within the EEU framework.

As Zhaparov noted, external factors also have an impact on macroeconomic indicators of the EAEU member-states. In particular, external economic pressure on one of them negatively affects the situation in other countries. In this regard, he proposed to "unite and work together to counter these threats," including through the deepening of cooperative ties.

"Creating conditions for internal sustainability of economies in the EEU should become one of our main tasks," Zhaparov said.

The head of the Kyrgyz cabinet of ministers offered to increase the volume of external and internal trade at the expense of the development of transport corridors, including railway ones. He also called for mutual recognition of certificates of vaccination against coronavirus infection within the EEU.
