Heads of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are concerned about the events in Kyrgyzstan

The heads of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan expressed serious concern over the situation in Kyrgyzstan and called on the population to show wisdom to restore stability, a joint statement issued on Friday by the heads of the four republics reads.


"What is happening in brotherly Kyrgyzstan is of great concern to us. As close neighbors bound by centuries-old ties of friendship, good neighborliness, common cultural and spiritual values, we call on the people of Kyrgyzstan in these difficult days to demonstrate their inherent wisdom for the preservation of peace and restoration of stability in the country. We express our hope that all political parties and public circles of Kyrgyzstan will make necessary efforts to ensure peace and tranquillity, to solve the issues that have arisen while observing the Constitution and national legislation", the document says.


The heads of state also noted that the prosperity of Kyrgyzstan is an important factor in regional security and sustainable development of the whole Central Asia. "Our countries have one past and are building a common future. The peoples of Central Asia have historically been united by the desire for lasting peace, harmony and creation for the benefit of future generations," the statement stressed.


"Sharing common goals, our states are actively strengthening regional cooperation to expand trade and economic, investment, transport and communications, cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as cross-border and interregional interaction. Moving towards further strengthening of Central Asian solidarity, we will always support the people of Kyrgyzstan in their quest for unity, peaceful, independent development and prosperity," the document says.
