Khusnullin: Russia thanks Muslim countries for the dialogue

20 May 2022

Russia is grateful to colleagues from Islamic countries for dialogue and support in the face of numerous fakes and attempts to discredit the country in the eyes of the world public, said Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin at a meeting of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic World".

The current meeting of the group is held in Kazan as part of the celebration of the 1,100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria. Its major subject is "Russian experience in preserving ethnic and cultural diversity and interethnic and interreligious harmony -  the key to strengthening the common civic identity". About 100 people take part in the work of the meeting.

"Now, observing the abundance of fakes and attempts to discredit Russia in the eyes of the world community, we are grateful to our colleagues from Islamic states for dialogue and for their support. It is gratifying that our positions on many topical issues of the global agenda coincide within the framework of our dialogue," Khusnullin said.

He noted that the Group of Strategic Vision  has proved its efficiency and has become a significant platform for discussing international relations during its work. The current meeting, he said, is taking place at a difficult time, in the context of confronting the aggressive influence of Western countries, when moral norms enshrined in the sacred scriptures are being erased and distorted.

"We have witnessed that this tendency leads to the spread of Nazism and the split between peoples, which Russia is actively fighting," the Russian deputy prime minister stressed, adding that Russia has always stood for unity between nations and religious confessions and for peaceful coexistence.
