Ilham Aliyev and Sergey Lavrov meet in Baku

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who is on a visit to Baku, met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.


Lavrov noted that bilateral relations between Moscow and Baku are "developing progressively in all areas."


"This is confirmed by regular contacts between the leaders of the two countries," reads, in particular, a message on the Russian Foreign Ministry's Instagram page.


Lavrov added that Moscow highly appreciated the visit of Azerbaijan's First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to Russia, her contacts with President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko.


"The initiatives that were discussed during this visit will be certainly implemented. They include the new topics to our intergovernmental economic cooperation - innovations and high technologies," he said.
