In Pakistan, doctors who died of the coronavirus will be declared martyrs for their faith

Pakistani doctors who died fighting the coronavirus will receive the status of Shaheed-a Martyr for the faith. This, according to TASS, was announced by the special assistant to the Prime Minister for health Zafar Mirza.


"The government of Pakistan takes the health and safety of medical professionals who are fighting COVID-19 very seriously. The Cabinet of Ministers decided that medical workers who gave their lives to fight the coronavirus will be given the status of Shaheed, " the official said.


Families of deceased doctors, according to Mirza, will receive a payment of 3 to 10 million rupees (from $18,600 to $62,100), depending on the position of the employee.


According to the latest data, more than 150 doctors and nurses have been diagnosed with the coronavirus in Pakistan. At the same time, health workers regularly complain to the authorities about the lack of personal protective equipment in hospitals.


In total, 14,514 cases of the infection were detected in Pakistan, and 312 people died.
