Indonesia approves emergency use of Sputnik V

25 August 2021

Indonesia has approved the use of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V, registration was carried out under the EUA procedure, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) announced.

"The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF, a sovereign fund of the Russian Federation) announces the registration of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V in the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesia became the 70th country to approve the use of the Sputnik V vaccine. The registration was carried out under the emergency use authorization (EUA) procedure", says the report.

Thus, RDIF notes, the total population of all countries that have approved Sputnik V is 4 billion people - more than 50 percent of the world's population.

"Indonesia is one of the most populous countries in Asia, and including Sputnik V in the national portfolio will allow one of the safest and most effective vaccines in the world to be used to protect human health... Indonesia's approval of the vaccine is based on rigorous data evaluation and will enable the country to fight the pandemic more successfully," commented Kirill Dmitriev, head of RDIF.

Data on the use of Sputnik V during population vaccination in several countries (Argentina, San Marino, Serbia, Hungary, Bahrain, Mexico, UAE and others) demonstrate that Sputnik V is one of the safest and most effective vaccines against coronavirus. Sputnik V has the second highest number of approvals by government regulators in the world.
