Moscow and Jakarta are working on resuming direct flights, for this purpose airlines from Russia need to have a representative office in Jakarta, Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Jose Tavares said in an interview with RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the EEF.

"Yes, there is a procedure that needs to be followed, we have already submitted a request from the airlines I mentioned - Aeroflot, NordWind to Jakarta. But there are certain requirements that they have to fulfill. For example, one such requirement is to open a representative office in Jakarta for better communication. Even to resume flights to Bali, an airline needs to have a representative office in Indonesia," he said.

The ambassador noted that many companies from Russia are interested in launching flights between the two countries.

"Now we are in the process of reviewing applications from some Russian airlines, such as Aeroflot, NordWind, Azur Air. That is, the authorities are now considering the possibility of at least granting (permission - ed.). As far as I know, there is already permission for Azur Air to carry out direct flights from Vladivostok to the island of Bali," he said.
