International Symposium on Islamic civilization in the Caucasus starts in Baku

International Symposium on Islamic civilization in the Caucasus opened in Baku. The Symposium is organized jointly by the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA, Turkey), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,  the Azerbaijan Theology Institute of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

 

 


Scientists, researchers and experts from Turkey, Russia, Iran, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, USA, Australia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia take part in this event.

 

 


Speeches of the following topics are planned to be presented: The spread of Islam in the Caucasus; Islamic policy of Tzar Russia in the Caucasus; The influence of Islamic Culture on the traditions of the peoples in the Caucasus;  Islamic architecture in the Caucasus; Islamic art and literature in the Caucasus, etc.

 

 


Among additional topics for discussion are the role of mosques, madrasas (a college for Islamic instruction) and khanates in religious education in the Caucasus; the development of Islamic Sciences in the Caucasus; the role of Caucasian scientists in the development of hard and human sciences in the Islamic world, etc.

 

 


Symposium materials will be published as a book, which will be used in teaching at Islamic education institutions worldwide.
