Iran has not supplied and will not supply Russia with weapons for use in combat operations in Ukraine, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in a telephone conversation with Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto.
"Despite the fact that a number of countries are providing military support to Kiev, we have not and will not transfer any weapons to Russia to wage war in Ukraine," the official Iranian MFA portal quoted him as saying on Friday. - "We believe that the solution to this crisis is political and that any supply of weapons to the parties to the conflict alienates the prospects for a peaceful settlement."
In August, The Washington Post published an article claiming that Iran was supplying drones to Russia; similar claims were later made by US administration officials. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called such reports fake.
