Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani criticized the US Senate's recent approval of a bill providing over $14 billion in aid to Israel. He specified that this substantial aid package implies that Israel would receive approximately $100 million per day for military operations in the Gaza Strip.
"The US Senate's approval of $14 billion in aid to the Zionist regime from the pockets of the American taxpayers means that Netanyahu and other perpetrators will be rewarded $100 million a day for their actions, including the killing of innocent Palestinians in an unequal battle in the Gaza Strip," Kanani expressed on his X page (formerly Twitter).
On February 13, the Senate, with some Republican support, passed a bill allocating $95 billion in aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Among this aid, $60.06 billion is designated to support Ukraine, with $14.1 billion earmarked for Israel. Notably, the bill does not include provisions for stricter controls on the southern border.
Republican Speaker of the lower house, Mike Johnson from Louisiana, highlighted the absence of border crisis measures in the Senate-prepared bill, referring to it as "obviously unpassable" in the House of Representatives. Johnson, holding the third-highest post in the US government hierarchy, emphasized the urgent need to address the border situation, which he deemed the most serious problem facing the United States.
Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply following the infiltration of fighters from Palestinian group Hamas into Israeli territory on October 7 last year. On December 1, the Israeli army accused Hamas of allegedly violating a previously established truce and resumed attacks.
