Iran expects US compensation for losses from non-fulfillment of a nuclear deal

29 May 2019

Iran expects compensation from the US for a failure in implementation the 2018 nuclear deal. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araghchi declared about this expectation in an interview for Russian news agency "RIA Novosti".

“We expect them, at least, to show respect for the agreement and compensation for Iran’s losses over the past year, as well as respect for Iran’s rights in the deal”, the agency quoted a high-ranking Iranian diplomat.

Official Washington withdrew from the nuclear deal and reinstated all anti-Iran sanctions in force before signing the document in early May 2018.

In 2017, Iran announced the termination of the implementation of several paragraphs of the document concerning enriched uranium and heavy water reserves, promising to return to the implementation of the agreement if they manage to solve the problems arising from the US actions.
