Iran may buy weapons from Russia after lifting sanctions

Iran is interested in Russian military equipment, Russian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic Levan Dzhagaryan told RIA Novosti.

"Yes, there is an interest, of course, because our military equipment is considered to be the best in the world and the most inexpensive in the world", the Russian diplomat said, in particular, without specifying the kind of equipment.

Dzhagaryan said that Moscow adheres to the restrictions imposed on Iran in the field of military-technical cooperation with Tehran in accordance with the UN Security Council resolution, which will be in effect until October 2020.

Last summer, a number of media reported that Russia allegedly rejected Iran's request to sell the S-400. Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov then told RIA Novosti that Russia had not received any requests from Iran.
