Iran does not support any of the parties to the conflict in Ukraine and is against the supply of foreign weapons to both Kiev and Moscow. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said this in an interview with the online publication Al-Monitor published on Monday.
"We have an agreement with Russia on defense cooperation, but we do not support either side in the Ukrainian war because it will lead to its continuation. We are strongly opposed to any war, whether in Ukraine, Yemen or Palestine. Therefore, we have made efforts to establish peace and a cease-fire in Ukraine," the minister said when asked if Iran was supplying its drones to Russia. "We believe that neither side has the right to supply weapons to either Ukraine or Russia. We are going to continue to promote political dialogue and a negotiated solution to this crisis," the Iranian foreign minister said.
In August, The Washington Post published an article claiming that Iran was supplying Russia with UAVs, later similar claims were made by US administration officials. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called such reports fake.
