Iran strongly rejects the accusations leveled against it by Morocco of "interference" in the internal affairs of Arab states. These "constantly repeated accusations are baseless," PressTV reported Wednesday, citing Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani.
"Iran rejects the fictitious and repeated allegations made by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita about the interference of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the internal affairs of Yemen and other Arab countries," Kanani said. - "Instead of making unfounded accusations against IRI, Morocco would do better to be concerned about the security threats to the countries of the region that have resulted from the normalization of Rabat's relations with Israel."
Kanani advised the Moroccan foreign minister to "devote his time to addressing the suffering and pain of the oppressed people of Yemen and, instead of relying on Israel to impose its demands in the region, grant the people of Western Sahara the right to self-determination in accordance with the UN Charter."
On Monday, Morocco's foreign minister said Rabat "strongly condemns Iran's interference in Yemen and in the internal problems of Arab countries."
In Yemen, the confrontation between government forces and the armed formations of the Houthis has been going on since August 2014. It reached its most active phase with the Saudi-led coalition's invasion in March 2015. The conflict led to the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. On April 7, 2022, Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi announced the creation of a Presidential governing council and the transfer of transitional governmental authority to it following inter-Yemeni negotiations held in Riyadh under the auspices of the UN from March 30 to April 7, 2022.
