Iran has pledged to retaliate within seconds in the event of an Israeli attack on its territory, as stated by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani.
"If Israel attempts to breach Iranian soil, it will face a much stronger retaliation than before. Any subsequent mistake by Israel will be met with a swift and forceful response, measured not in days or hours, but in seconds," quoted IRNA news agency.
The April 1 strike on the consular section of Iran's embassy in Syria was labeled a "strategic mistake" by Israel, according to the deputy foreign minister. He indicated that Tehran decided to conduct an operation on Israeli territory as a demonstration of Iran's defense capabilities and military strength.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani emphasized that Iran does not seek escalation in the Middle East but is prepared to respond to any "illegal and irrational actions" against the republic.
