30 June 2023

The Western world is on the verge of a great decline, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said at a press conference Friday, commenting on the Quran-burning situation in Sweden.

"It seems that the Western world is entering a great decline," he said. - "The Quran is a divine message to humanity, and several billion people, at least about two billion people, follow the Quran, the Quran is sacred to them." According to him, if the West were not making its way to decline, burning and insulting the Quran and other holy scriptures would be impossible.

Jalali stressed that the burning of the Quran in Stockholm during Eid al-Adha was one of the "most anti-human and criminal acts that has long been carried out in the West." "We do not consider it freedom of speech, we consider it contradicts conscience, logic, and also offends divine values," he pointed out.

The ambassador also thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for visiting Derbent and visiting the mosque. "This a very noble act," the diplomat noted.
