Moscow and Tehran may agree on introduction of the visa-free regime in 2023, Iran is waiting for a response from the Russian side on this issue and is ready to cancel visas as soon as possible, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali told a press conference on Monday.
"There is such a prospect," he said, responding to a TASS question about whether the countries could agree to a visa-free regime this year.
"We, as the Islamic Republic of Iran, agree to cancel visas between the two countries. And we have even taken steps from our side on this issue. We are waiting for the opinion of Russian officials. Should Russia, too, like us, state its readiness, we could have declared a visa-free regime in a short time," the Iranian diplomat noted.
