Iranian authorities canceled traditional military parade due to the coronavirus

Against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, Iranian authorities decided to cancel the traditional military parade on the occasion of Army Day.


This was announced by President Hassan Rouhani at a government meeting.


"The parade of the armed forces of Iran - air and ground forces - held every year on 29th of Farwardine (this year on April 17). This year (holding a parade) is impossible due to the situation in healthcare,” the Iranian leader noted in particular.


In Iran, according to recent data, 74,877 cases of the COVID-19 infection were detected, 4,683 people died. To combat the coronavirus, armed forces are involved and mobilized. They take part in the production of antiseptics and the disinfection of cities.
