Iranian Foreign Minister condemns Israeli police actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

06 April 2023

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Thursday condemned Israeli police actions against Palestinians at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. On his Twitter page, he noted that the actions were made possible by the position of Western countries and human rights organizations, that ignore human rights violations by Israel.

The Iranian foreign minister said the actions of the Israeli police "were made possible because of the position of so-called human rights defenders in Western countries," who "turn a blind eye" to it.

On Tuesday, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli security forces stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque using stun grenades and tear gas, as well as rubber bullets and batons. More than 400 people were detained, according to the Lebanese channel Al-Mayadeen. Meanwhile, Israeli police reported Wednesday that dozens of young individuals wearing masks barricaded themselves inside the mosque and began chanting slogans and calling for riots. Police then had to enter the temple compound.
