Iranian Foreign Minister Criticizes US and UK Attack on Yemen as a "Strategic Mistake"

In a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian voiced his strong condemnation of the recent US and UK attack on Yemen. Abdollahian directly labeled the military intervention a "strategic mistake," as conveyed in a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on its official Telegram channel.

 

 

"The diplomatic chief described the unauthorized attacks by the US and the UK on Yemen as a strategic mistake that will escalate tensions in the region," stated the Foreign Ministry in a release. The ministry reported that Abdollahian reaffirmed Iran's "principled stance, which prioritizes ensuring the safety of navigation in the Red Sea." He emphasized that Yemen's primary objective is to bring an end to the conflict in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, the foreign minister expressed concern about the situation in the Gaza Strip and conveyed Iran's willingness to provide humanitarian aid, according to the report.
