Iranian Foreign Ministry calls Israeli accusations of assassination attempts in Turkiye ridiculous

24 June 2022

Accusations by Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid of Iranian attempts to organize assassination attempts against Israeli citizens in Turkiye are ridiculous and aimed at undermining relations between Tehran and Ankara. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Friday.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry's press service, Khatibzadeh called "the baseless accusations made by Israel's Foreign Ministry during a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart [Mevlut Cavusoglu] in Ankara ridiculous". "This is all part of a planned action to undermine relations between the two Muslim countries," he said.

Lapid, who was in Tel Aviv on 23 June, said that in the past few weeks cooperation with Turkish intelligence and the Foreign Ministry had saved the lives of several Israeli citizens against whom Iranian secret services were planning assassination attempts.
