Iranian President to meet State Duma Chairman Volodin

On Monday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will receive Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, who has arrived in Iran heading a parliamentary delegation. A source in Iran's Majlis (parliament) told IRNA.


"The meeting will take place after the session of the commission on cooperation between the State Duma and the Iranian parliament," he pointed out. According to the source, Volodin will hold talks with Majlis Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf before that. Both speakers will then address a joint press conference.


The Russian delegation includes Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Sergei Neverov, who supervises the chamber's interparliamentary ties with Iran, LDPR leader and Head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky, and Chairmen of the Duma Committees on the Financial Market Anatoly Aksakov, on Security and Anti-Corruption Action Vasily Piskarev and on Transportation Yevgeny Moskvichev.


The third meeting of the commission on cooperation between the State Duma and the Iranian Parliament will be held on Monday in Tehran, and will focus on legislative support for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries in energy, transport and agriculture, as well as issues of cooperation in the Caspian Sea, regional security, combating terrorism and extremism. The previous meeting of the commission was held in January 2020.
