Iran's Foreign Minister announced a new meeting of the "Astana Troika" on Syria

The next consultations of the so-called "Astana Troika" – Russia, Iran and Turkey - on the inter-Syrian settlement will take place in the near future, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said at a meeting with President of the Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.


The Iranian Foreign Minister said the Syrian leader about the recent telephone conversation with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Syria Geir Pedersen, during which they discussed the developments in Syria, including the Constitutional Committee, Idlib and the political process, and the consultations between Iran, Turkey and Russia - the countries-guarantors of the Astana process.


The head of Iranian diplomacy is in the Syrian capital on a one-day visit. His agenda also includes a meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Walid Muallem.
