Iran's Foreign Ministry called the agreement between Israel and the UAE a strategic mistake

Iran has condemned the agreement between Israel and the UAE to normalize bilateral relations and called it a strategic mistake. The corresponding statement was published on Friday in the telegram channel of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

"The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemns the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and the Zionist regime and considers this a strategic mistake by Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi, which will certainly strengthen resistance [to Israel] in the region," the statement said.

The diplomatic department also emphasizes that the people of Palestine and "all the free nations of the world" will never accept Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories and will not forgive the" Zionist regime " for its crimes.

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced on his Twitter page that Israel and the UAE reached agreements on the full normalization of bilateral relations. This also follows from the joint statement of the two countries. The agreements, in particular, involve suspending Israel's decision to extend its sovereignty to Jewish settlements in the West Bank, which is stipulated in the American plan for the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

At the moment, only Egypt and Jordan have established diplomatic relations with Israel and operate embassies among the Arab States. In recent years, information has repeatedly appeared in the media about the rapprochement between Israel and the UAE and the contacts between the two countries. The UAE, despite the absence of a peace treaty with the Jewish state, has actively developed commercial relations with Israel in recent years.
