Iran's supreme leader did not respond to Trump's message

13 June 2019

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei refused to respond to a message from US President Donald Trump, which was handed to him by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

As noted on the official website of Khamenei, at a meeting with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abe said that he wanted to send him a message from the American leader.

Khamenei, in turn, stated that he “has no and will not have an answer” to the message retold by the Japanese prime minister.

“I consider Trump to be a man who does not deserve any message,” Khamenei quotes his website, in particular.

The details of Trump's message, while not disclosed.

Abe was in Iran with an official visit on the eve of June 13.
