Iraq intends to buy Russian S-400 Air Defense System

The Iraqi Government has announced its intention to purchase the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia.

 

 

RIA Novosti reports about the intention of the Iraqi Ambassador to Russian Federation Mansour Hadi.

 

 


“With regard to the C-400, there is no road map that would determine the exact dates, the movement along this path. The Iraqi Government has made a decision; it wants to buy these missiles”, Hadi mentioned in an interview with journalists.

 

 


It is known that now that the S-400 is received by the Armed Forces of Russia, the two divisions of the S-400 provide Air Defense of the Russian military bases in Syria — Khmeimim and Tartus. In addition, Russia is implementing the first export contract for the supply of S-400 to China. Also, contracts for the supply of S-400 are signed with India and Turkey.
