Iraq will send observers for the “Astana” talks on Syria for the first time

Iraq will send observers for the “Astana” talks on Syria for the first time. The Iraqi Ambassador in Moscow, Haydar Mansour Hadi has stated it.

 

 

“The Government of Iraq will appoint someone who will represent Iraq at the Astana meetings”, he mentioned.

 

 


Earlier on the fact that Iraq, as well as Lebanon, were invited as observers at the Astana talks because of their proximity to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev claimed, the Special Representative of the Russian President.

 

 


It is known that the twelfth round of Astana negotiations was held in Nur-Sultan on April 25th-26th. Besides, to the guarantor countries - Russia, Iran and Turkey, the Syrian opposition and the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Syria Pedersen have also participated.
