30 December 2020

The celebration of the 1,100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria will be supported by the ISESCO. Director-General of ISESCO (Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Salim Al-Malik announced that in a conference organized by the UNA (Union of OIC News Agencies).

Salim Al-Malik noted that the initiative is of great importance for the whole Islamic world and promised on behalf of the organization to take a direct part in its realization if such a proposal is sent to the ISESCO. He said: "We are ready to take part in the conference and anniversary celebrations. We will be the first to respond to the invitation".

Salim Al-Malik also mentioned an international conference to be held next year on the Prophet Muhammad and his role in humanity. The ISESCO Director-General urged delegates from all over the world to attend the conference because he said the Prophet Muhammad's role in human history and his contribution to preserving peace, compassion, mutual respect and tolerance was invaluable. In this connection, the conference will focus not so much on the Islamic community, but rather on the non-Muslim world, from which it is planned to invite keynote speakers.

The ICESCO is a specialized organization dealing with education, science, culture and communication in Muslim countries to strengthen ties between member states. The ISESCO is headquartered in Rabat, Morocco.
