Islamic Jihad Delegation Arrives in Cairo for Gaza Ceasefire Talks

12 December

A delegation from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, led by its Secretary-General Ziyad al-Nakhalah, has arrived in Cairo to discuss a potential ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The announcement was made via the movement’s Telegram channel.

“The Islamic Jihad delegation, headed by Secretary-General Ziyad al-Nakhalah, has arrived in Cairo at the invitation of the Egyptian authorities,” the statement read. During the visit, the delegation is expected to discuss the progress of ceasefire negotiations, the exchange of hostages held in Gaza for Palestinian prisoners, and the expansion of humanitarian aid deliveries to the enclave.

Egyptian broadcaster Al-Qahira Al-Ikhbariya reported that an Israeli delegation also arrived in Cairo to engage in talks with Egyptian officials about a Gaza ceasefire. Representatives of Hamas visited Cairo on December 8, where they met with General Intelligence Service head Hassan Mahmoud Rashad to discuss ceasefire terms and post-conflict governance in the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, Al Arabiya reported on December 10 that during its recent visit, Hamas allegedly provided Egyptian authorities with a detailed list of hostages held in Gaza. However, neither Hamas nor the Egyptian government has confirmed this claim.
