Israel has commenced the construction of an extensive facility in the Gaza Strip, which will be utilized to screen Palestinians returning to the northern region of the enclave, as reported by Kan radio station.

The  facility, spanning an area equivalent to two soccer fields, is situated near the coast, in close proximity to the Netzarim corridor, a route that traverses Gaza from east to west. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has taken charge of the construction process.

According to the radio station, the facility is being envisioned to serve multiple purposes. In addition to conducting security checks on Palestinian returnees, it is also being considered as a potential storage and distribution point for humanitarian aid destined for Gaza.
