Israel Continues Strikes on Gaza Areas Bordering Egypt

12 February

According to the Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen, Israeli aviation is continuing to strike areas of the Gaza Strip that border Egypt, specifically in the southern regions of the enclave. The channel reported that ambulances are struggling to access some of the damaged houses in Rafah due to the ongoing bombardment.

The death toll from the strikes stands at  100, with over  230 injuries, primarily affecting women and children. Israeli air strikes have also targeted areas south of Khan Younis.

Previously, it was reported that Israeli Air Force planes had targeted Al-Huda and Al-Rahma mosques in Rafah, which serve as refugee housing. Al Mayadeen indicates that the Israeli air force has conducted more than  50 raids. The Palestinian Red Crescent has reported bombings of homes in the vicinity and the organization's headquarters.

The escalation in the Middle East began following the infiltration of Hamas fighters from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October  7,  2023. In response, Israel imposed a full blockade on Gaza and launched strikes against the Strip, as well as parts of Lebanon and Syria, before initiating a ground operation in the enclave. Skirmishes are also occurring in the West Bank.
