Israel has withdrawn the 98th division from the southern part of the Gaza Strip in preparation for an attack on Rafah, according to Palestinian Ambassador to Moscow Abdel Hafiz Nofal.
"This is a tactical step," Nofal explained in response to a question from TASS.
"It is done to launch a serious attack on Rafah," he clarified. The ambassador further noted that the withdrawal is not a "complete withdrawal from the occupied territory."
Earlier reports from the Kan radio indicated that the Israel Defense Forces withdrew the 98th division, which had been involved in the Khan Younis operation for the past four months, from the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday night.
