Israel's Alleged Intent to Transform Gaza into a Buffer Zone Sparks Concerns

25 January

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has voiced concerns, stating that Israel is aiming to convert Gaza into a buffer zone. The ministry's special statement, issued in response to the ongoing Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip, emphasizes the world community's perceived inability to protect the Palestinian people. The statement asserts that Israel's non-compliance with international decisions contributes to the complete isolation of the Palestinian enclave.

Quoting the ministry's document, the WAFA agency highlighted the ongoing "Israeli crimes in Gaza against Palestinians," emphasizing the international community's failure to halt aggression and provide essential humanitarian assistance to the Strip's residents. The agency reported that Israel continues to disregard demands and decisions made at the international level.

Amidst the shortcomings of international efforts to resolve the conflict, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry contends that Israel is actively advancing its colonial projects in Gaza. Specifically, it alleges that Israel is working to implement a plan for so-called buffer zones along the border with the Strip. The ministry further claims that the international community's acquiescence is enabling Israel to effectively isolate the Gaza Strip, turning it into a buffer zone inaccessible to international intervention and impeding attempts to alter the current situation.
