20 May 2022

Director of the Egyptian Council on Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Izzat Saad in his speech at the annual meeting of the Group of Strategic Vision  "Russia - Islamic World" thanked the leadership of Tatarstan for choosing the crucial topic of the meeting.

"I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and to the esteemed State Councilor of the RT Mintimer Shaimiev, and to all other participants of the meeting. I thank you for your  choice of today's topic "Russian experience in preserving ethnic and cultural diversity and interethnic and interreligious harmony - the key to strengthening the common civic identity". Times today are tense, the West has undermined a number of basic principles of the modern international situation. Military support, sending mercenaries to Ukraine have all led to an international crisis," the ambassador said.

"The Russian Federation has an extremely rich experience. Various studies concerning Russia's national and civic identity that have been conducted show that Russians support the ideas of citizenship and pluralism that were put forward in Soviet times. The USSR then and the Russian Federation today are multinational states, the peoples of which demonstrate complete unity in countering the information war," Izzat Saad added at the end of his speech.
