Kabul positively evaluates results of Moscow meeting on Afghanistan

Kabul positively evaluates the results of the meeting of the expanded "troika" on the settlement in Afghanistan, which was held in Moscow on Thursday, Abdullah Abdullah, head of Afghanistan's High National Reconciliation Council, told reporters after the meeting.


"Overall, we appreciate the efforts of Moscow as the host country, the expanded "troika" and the countries that participated as guests - Turkey and Qatar. Overall it was a good meeting," he said.


Abdullah said all participants at the meeting were in favor of accelerating the peace process to make Afghanistan "a platform of cooperation, not rivalry." He said the statement adopted was comprehensive and "sends a very clear message."


The meeting of the expanded "troika" (Russia, the United States, China and Pakistan) on the settlement in Afghanistan at the level of special envoys was held in Moscow on Thursday. A joint statement was issued based on the results of the meeting. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Afghan authorities and the Taliban (banned in Russia), as well as Qatar and Turkey.
