Kabulov reports on work of the Russian Consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif

03 April 2023

Russia's Consulate General in Mazar-i-Sharif is already working, Russian President's Special Representative for Afghanistan and Director of the Second Asia Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov told TASS on Monday.

"It is actually already working, and our colleagues are on the spot," he said in response to a related question.

Earlier, Alexei Pereverzev was appointed Russian Consul General in Mazar-i-Sharif by order of the Russian foreign ministry.

Kabulov told TASS in July 2021 that the consulate general in Mazar-i-Sharif had suspended work due to the deteriorating situation in the north of the country. Russian diplomats were evacuated. In an interview with TASS in January 2022, Kabulov said that the issue of resuming the work of the consulate general required careful interagency work, especially security issues. In November, he told TASS that an advance team inspected the building of the Russian consulate general.
