Kadyrov: restoration of Mariupol mosque damaged during battles is in full swing

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said that the restoration of the Suleiman the Magnificent and Roxelana mosque in Mariupol, which was damaged during the fighting for the city, is in full swing. 


"Earlier it became known to us that the mosque was damaged during the fighting. In this regard, the Akhmad-Hadji Kadyrov Regional Public Foundation named after the Hero of Russia has allocated considerable funds for its restoration. I am pleased to learn that the work is proceeding at full speed," the Chechen leader wrote in his Telegram channel. 


According to him, State Duma Deputy Adam Delimkhanov checked the progress of reconstruction work during his visit to Mariupol. 


"The specialists have everything at their disposal to carry out construction work in a qualitative and timely manner. Currently there is interior and exterior works. Very soon workers will start decorating the walls in the appropriate style," the Chechen leader said. 


The Mariupol mosque named after Suleiman the Magnificent and Roxelana repeatedly came under shelling from Ukrainian troops during the fighting for the city. Ukrainian armed formations held hostages in the mosque, which were released by servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces.
