16 August 2023

As part of the national project "Safe Country," Kazakhstan's authorities are constructing 20 border posts along the border with Russia. This initiative was announced during a briefing by Serik Akhmetkaliyev, the first deputy head of the specialized department of the Border Service of the Republic.

"As part of the 'Safe Country' national project, the construction of 50 border outpost complexes is planned. Presently, work is underway to build 20 border outposts on the northern direction, along the border with the Russian Federation. Additionally, three modular outposts are currently being constructed on the southern borders," stated Akhmetkaliyev during the briefing.

Gani Agadilov, another deputy head of the department, provided additional information, stating that the reconstruction of automobile border checkpoints is planned within the next two years. "The government has made a decision to renovate 46 checkpoints along the entire border perimeter. In the years 2024-2025, the main checkpoints on the Kazakh-Russian border will undergo reconstruction. This will involve expanding the lanes leading to the checkpoints, constructing new buildings and facilities to accommodate border guard services, and ensuring a more comfortable passage for individuals and vehicles," he explained.

Agadilov further highlighted that these checkpoints will be equipped with contactless inspection facilities.
