Kazakhstan has registered the Sputnik V vaccine produced at the Karaganda Pharmaceutical Complex (KPC), the company's press service reported.

"The Karaganda Pharmaceutical Complex has completed the registration procedure for the vaccine against coronavirus infection Gam-COVID-Vac (Sputnik V) in the Republic of Kazakhstan," a press release issued by the KPC reads.

According to the report, the conclusion of the expert organization of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan on the safety, quality and efficacy of the vaccine was received on February 13 following the review of registration dossier materials. On the basis of this conclusion, an application for a registration certificate was sent to the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control of the Ministry of Health.

Earlier it was reported that on February 1, Kazakhstan began vaccinating against coronavirus using the Russian-made vaccine Sputnik V. The first batch of vaccines was delivered to Kazakhstan on the basis of a one-time import permit.

Production of the Sputnik V vaccine from Russian components has begun at the KPC. According to preliminary estimates, about 90,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine produced by KPC are planned to be delivered to all regions of the country by the end of February this year.

In addition, since the 2nd quarter of this year, it is planned to connect to the vaccination a drug produced in Kazakhstan - QazCovid-in, which is now in the third phase of clinical trials. First Deputy Minister of Health of the republic Marat Shoranov in late January reported that vaccination against coronavirus for all will be free, for the population not included in the risk group, it will be available in April-May.
