The authorities of Kazakhstan and Russia have signed joint action plans to develop the infrastructure of road and rail border crossing points. This was reported on Monday by the press service of the Ministry of industry and infrastructure development of Kazakhstan.
"The XVII session of the transport sub-commission of the intergovernmental commission on cooperation between the two countries was held in Moscow under the chairmanship of Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan Marat Karabaev and Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev. Main directions of cooperation in the transport sphere were discussed including joint plans on realization of the logistic potential of the "North - South" international transport corridor " the report reads.
It was noted that agreements were reached to raise the status of the transport sub-commission up to the level of the ministers of transport departments of the two countries and to agree upon the draft agreement between the governments of the two countries on organization of cooperation in the sphere of transport development, transport infrastructure and state border crossing points.
"Following the results of the meeting, a protocol and plans of joint actions on infrastructure development of automobile and railway checkpoints on the Kazakh-Russian state border were signed," the press-service explained.
According to the agency, the parties expect the implementation of this project to increase cargo and passenger traffic, which will eventually ensure further progressive development of transport and logistics potential of Kazakhstan.
