Kazakhstan Sends 1.7 Thousand Tons of Aid to Earthquake-Stricken Afghanistan

11 October 2023

The Kazakh authorities have dispatched approximately 1,659 tons of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, which has been affected by a devastating earthquake. This initiative comes in response to the directive of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The humanitarian cargo consists of various items, including food, tents, clothing, and bedding, sourced from the state's material reserve. Additionally, "SK-Pharmacy," a medical distributor, has contributed medicines for this relief effort.

An initial batch of medicines and tents was transported to Afghanistan via a National Guard aircraft, scheduled for immediate distribution. The remaining humanitarian aid will be delivered by rail.

In a parallel effort, 45 personnel from the Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations were deployed to the Herat province in Afghanistan to engage in search and rescue operations.
