Kazakhstan will provide a 40% discount on transportation through Russian-Kazakh border crossings to Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries for the main commodity, except for grain, milling products and petroleum products. This was reported by the press service of Russian Railways.
"We have agreed on discounts on the eastern route of the North-South corridor. Our partners from Kazakhstan will provide a 40% discount on the transportation of the main commodity range, except for grain, milling products and petroleum products, through the Russian-Kazakh border crossing in the direction of Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries," the statement said.
Discounts on Turkmenistan's railroads will be 50% in the direction of Ak-Yayla border crossing, 40% for transshipment at Serakhs freight yard (in the direction of Iran and further to Indian Ocean ports).
Russian Railways expect that by the end of the first quarter of this year the volume of freight traffic through the North-South ITC will grow twice as much as last year and will amount to more than 2.3 million tons.
