Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision Russia - Islamic World, and Farid Mukhametshin, the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, discussed the results of the Group's work in 2020 and the most important events planned for the current year during their meeting on February 4 in Kazan.
During the exchange of views, it was noted that the Group has done a lot of work, despite the tight constraints faced by the organizers of planned events due to the coronavirus pandemic, a number of them were held in an online format.
We managed to expand the international contacts of the Group of Strategic Vision, including a number of international organizations - the UN, UNESCO, the International Federation of Journalists, the Union of OIC News Agencies and others. In the coming year, we plan to make more active use of the potential of the diplomatic corps of Islamic countries in Moscow, the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as to cooperate with foundations and international non-governmental organizations.
Holding a visiting session of the Group of Strategic Vision Russia - Islamic World in Jeddah in October in accordance with the agreements with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be of particular importance for the development of Russia's cooperation with the countries of the Islamic world.
It is planned to strengthen the potential of the Group
of Strategic Vision in order to achieve effective results of the future KazanSummit, to provide comprehensive assistance to the celebration at the world level of the 1100 anniversary of the adoption of Islam in the Volga Bulgaria region, as well as to participate as a partner organization of the Russian Organizing Committee in preparing the International Conference on Interreligious and Interethnic Dialogue in the Russian Federation in May 2022.
