03 February 2022

The Libyan National Army (LNA) Commander Khalifa Haftar has resumed his post, which he temporarily gave up for the period of the election campaign, while running for the presidency of Libya, the Al Arabiya TV channel reported on Thursday.

On September 22, 2021, Haftar handed over the command of the LNA to Colonel General Abdel Razzaq al-Naduri for three months, until December 24, 2021, when parliamentary and presidential elections were to be held in the country.

Al-Naduri will lead the country's general staff.

On December 22, 2021, the High Electoral Commission of Libya officially announced the postponement of elections in the country. A new date has not yet been set. It could take up to 9 to 12 months to prepare and organize a new election.
