A concert in honor of Navy Day was held at the Khmeimim Air Base in Syria. To congratulate the Russian military on the holiday, the performers flew to Syria from Moscow.
"The cordiality of the military-officers, soldiers - is simply off the scale. The audience receives us warmly," Alexey Lysenkov, the concert's entertainer and TV host, told reporters.
A large tent was set up on the territory of the air base for the concert, but it was difficult to accommodate everyone - long before the event began, a queue had accumulated in front of it. The military police kept order.
The performers admitted that the preparation for the event was not easy - after the flight from Moscow, they had to spend the night at the base under the roar of aircraft engines, but, as noted by the soloist of the Zemlyane band Sergey Skachkov, this was also a positive moment. "There was a pleasant feeling when you hear this power, and somehow it even pleases. Such a shield that covers you from all adversity, " he shared his impressions after the concert.
In total, the concert lasted about an hour and a half, but the audience, as noted by the performers, was ready to listen to them for twice as long. "It's a pity that there are only three songs. It should have been four, but it turned out to be three, because there are a lot of performers and we need everyone to have time," the soloist of the Zdravstvuy, pesnya ensemble Elena Volkova said.
Russian Navy Day is celebrated on July 26. During the celebration in Syria, the Russian military also held a parade of warships and support vessels in the port of Tartus, during which the audience could see the diesel-electric submarine "Novorossiysk", the frigate "Admiral Makarov", the naval minesweeper "Vice Admiral Zakharin" and other vessels. In the sky over Tartus, Russian combat aircraft also flew over, and in the city itself, a military sports festival was organized for guests, during which Russian sailors demonstrated to the audience the landing of Marines and the capture of the coast with the fire support of Raptor boats and Mi-35 helicopters. There was also an exhibition of military equipment.
