King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa discussed the international and regional agenda, including the situation in Ukraine, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who is on a working visit to Manama, the Bahrain News Agency reported on Monday.
According to its reports, in the conversation, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa stressed "the importance of resolving the conflict in Ukraine in accordance with the interests of the two neighboring countries, the security and stability of the European continent and [the] world" and also pointed to "the need to resort to dialogue and diplomatic solutions within the framework of international law in order to reach a political settlement that will end the conflict, ensure peace and security for all parties, preserve civilian lives and deliver humanitarian aid to refugees and displaced individuals.
The monarch conveyed through Lavrov greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin and wishes for "calm, development and prosperity" for Russia and its people".
In addition, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa noted that his country is proud of its relations with Russia and seeks "to develop various aspects of bilateral cooperation and joint coordination in the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples."
Lavrov arrived in the Bahraini capital on Monday. On Tuesday, he will hold talks with his Bahraini counterpart, Abdel Latif bin Rashed al-Zayani.
