King of Jordan Discusses Efforts to End Violence in Gaza with Saudi Crown Prince

Jordan's King Abdullah II and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud held a telephone conversation in which they discussed joint efforts to prevent further escalation of violence between Palestinians and Israel. This information was conveyed in a statement from the royal office and reported by the Petra news agency.

 

"His Majesty King Abdullah II received a phone call from His Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," - the statement read. - "During the conversation, they discussed the deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip, underscoring the imperative of bolstering inter-Arab coordination and collaborating to halt the perilous escalation and mitigate its potential repercussions on the broader region."

 

During their telephone conversation, the Jordanian monarch emphasized "the necessity of identifying a political path to address the Palestinian problem and attain an equitable two-state resolution." Abdullah II urged all involved parties to exercise heightened restraint, safeguard civilian lives, and adhere to international humanitarian law.

 

On October 8, King Abdullah II engaged in a phone discussion with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, revealing his ongoing communication with regional and global partners. He further disclosed that discussions were underway regarding an "immediate initiative" aimed at halting the latest surge in violence.
