Kosachev called the killing of Iranian physicist state terrorism

Konstantin Kosachev, the head of the international committee of the Council of Federation, believes that Tehran should investigate the murder of the famous physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh with confirmation of evidence of involvement of external forces in this tragedy.


In the course of negotiations with  Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Iran to Russia Kazem Dzhalali, the situation in the region, which emerged after the murder of a famous Iranian nuclear physicist, the press service of the CF reported.


"Kosachev expressed condolences to the Iranian people in connection with this tragedy, describing it as an act of state terrorism, organized with a high degree of probability from outside. The senator drew attention to the importance of early investigation and publication of convincing evidence of the Iranian version of the involvement of this or that state in the crime," the report says.


The prospects for Russian-Iranian parliamentary ties were also discussed.


Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Dzhalali said that Tehran knew well who was behind the murder of a nuclear scientist. According to him, so far the direct and indirect evidence Tehran has, indicates that, as in past times, Israel is behind the attack.


Fakhrizadeh was killed in an assassination attempt in Tehran province on November 27, and he was seriously injured and died in hospital. The killed scientist was the head of the organization of research and innovation at the Defense Ministry and served as deputy head of the military department.


According to the Fars agency, he was shot from a distance of 150 meters with a remote-controlled weapon installed in a Nissan car. Apart from Fakhrizadeh and his bodyguards, there was no one at the scene of the assassination. The Al-Alam TV channel reported that the weapons were guided from a satellite.


The information about the absence of the perpetrators at the crime scene was confirmed by the Iranian authorities, specifying that it was possible to identify who planned the assassination and others involved in the murder.
