Kremlin assessed the possibility of canceling the SCO and BRICS Summits

Decisions to cancel the SCO and BRICS Summits due to coronavirus infection have not yet been taken, Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov told reporters.


"The SCO and BRICS Summit are planned to be held in St. Petersburg, and there are some events in Chelyabinsk, but not the summit. So far, no decisions have been made to cancel these events", he said.


Earlier it was reported that the SCO and BRICS Summits would be held on July 21-23, 2020 in St. Petersburg.


The SCO is an international organization that includes China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, India, and Pakistan.


BRICS is an informal interstate Association of the Federal Republic of Brazil, the Russian Federation, the Republic of India, the People's Republic of China, and the Republic of South Africa.
